114 鍛刀コンクール　Contest

浜御殿の鍛刀コンクールですが別に全国の刀工が一堂に会して作刀したわけでは
ありません。
まず各藩の江戸詰めを呼んで各藩の刀工の名簿をださせ(享保４年,1719,277名)、
翌年各刀工の刀を一振ずつ提出させました。そのなかかから選んだ刀工を
江戸に呼び寄せ、翌年(享保６年,1721)正月、浜御殿において作刀させました。

Contest was not that every sword smith gathered and made swords.
Every Hann(feudal domain) offered the sword smith list and their swords.
Edo syogunate choose the best swords of them.
And invited 3 sword smiths to Hama Gotenn(Hama palace) and
let them make swords. It's 1721 new year's day.
