206 桂小五郎 Kogorou Katsura

桂小五郎こと木戸孝充の佩刀は備前の名流清光、五郎左衛門です。区送りされた65cm
ほどの刀身を皮着せの鞘に江戸肥後金具を合わせた拵えに収めていました。

剣客でありましたが人に剣の極意を聞かれたとき
「逃げるが最上」と答えたのは有名な話です。

明治１０年５月２６日、かつての盟友西郷隆盛を案じながら亡くなりました。
享年４４歳

Kogorou Katsura changed his name to Kouinn
Kido . He was a famous supporter of a noble cause.

His sword is Gorouzaemonn Kiyomitsu in Bizenn. It's 65cm long.
Its fittings had skin covered sheath and Edo Higo metal fittings.

He was famous sword fighter but he was a pacifist.
His friend asked him "What is the secrets of sword fighting?"
He answered " Run away is the best way"

He died on 1877.05.26.
