146 突兵拵え Toppei style
フランス式の洋式軍装を採用した幕府軍は刀を腰のバンドの革サックに落とし差しに
しました。幕末にはやった長寸、豪壮な刀に無骨な拵え(講武所拵)ではこれは無理
なので短めの刀を抜き差しに向くようにこじろ側を尖らせた拵えにいれました。
とがったこじろが兜のとっぱいに似ていることからトッパイ拵え、転じて突兵拵え
と呼ばれることになります。(ズボン差しとも呼ぶことがあります)
Bakufu(Syougun) army adapted French style. Soldiers wear their swords into
their leather ring on belt. It needed a short sword and new style sheath.
Since then Koubusyo style sheath is popular. It is big and long.
New style sheath was short and its tip was tapered.
It called Toppei Kosirae(style).
