124 水心子正秀 Suishinn-shi-Masahide
新刀の言葉を最初に使った鎌田魚妙(かまだなたえ)(新刀弁疑,安永8,1779)に影響を
受け派手な刀を作っていた江戸の刀工、水心子正秀は備前伝(簡単に言うと長船風)、
相州伝(簡単に言うと正宗風)を学んだあと結局実用論をとなえ鎌倉期への復古主義をとなえました。
正秀が親分肌で面倒見のよい人だったせいもあり、１００人を越す多数の弟子を育て、
多数の著書を著し、復古主義を時代の流れとした点で新新刀の生みの親とされています。
At first Suishinnshi-Masahide made a showy swords under the influense of
Kamada-Natae. Kamada-Natae is the first guy who use the word "shinn-tou".
After that Masahide studied Bizenn style and Sousyuu style swords.
The final He argue sword come back to Kamakura style(=practical).
Masahide was a big-hearted guy and educated over 100 pupils.
And wrote many sword books. He made a way of Shinn-Shinn-tou.
He is regarded as a pioneer of Shinn-Shinn-tou.
