090 新刀 Shinn-tou(New sword)
おおよそ関が原の戦い(慶長5、1600)を境としてそれより古いものを古刀、
それより新しいものを新刀と呼んでます。
世の中の趨勢がほぼ決まり、古くからの刀匠が打ち続いた戦乱の中で技術を廃れさせて
いったのに対して戦乱の副産物である交通、運輸の発達のおかげで鉄の生産地に
しばられることのない新興勢力が各地で台頭しました。
当然古い製法、伝統にこだわらないので古刀と違った作風となります。
Shinn-tou is the sword which was made after
the War of Sekigahara(1600).
After Senngoku-Jidai(the age of war),old J.S.master lose their skil.
Transportation facilities grown up.
So New J.S.masters wear not chained to tradition
and steel mining town.
(old J.S.master lived near steel mine)
They were not unable to discard old customs.
So their new swords"Shinn-tou"
were different look from old swords"Ko-tou".
